Since its release, The Last of Us has been hugely acclaimed, won over 200 game of the year awards, and is considered to be one of the best games ever made. It may seem absurd now but Naughty Dog didn’t always know what a gem they had on their hands, at least that’s what Emilia Schatz said in an interview with Max Level.
“Honestly, I really didn’t [know it was that special]. I had faith in it because I had faith in my co-workers, but I really didn’t know how I felt about it,” she said. “It wasn’t until the very last week and I started playing through and I started seeing the game start to finish. I sent out and email to the team saying, “hey, I just want everyone to know that I’m so proud of working with all of you.” I realized that this was something that people were going to be talking about for a while. I don’t think anyone realized it. Well, maybe Neil did – maybe not. Either way, it turned out to be a bit of a surprise.”
The only question left now is whether there will be a sequel to the game? Naughty Dog have confirmed that they are looking into possibilities but nothing concrete is planned at this point in time.
