The petition for Bandai Namco America and UK to localize the Digimon video games, such as Digimon Story: Cuber Sleuth for the PS Vita, has successfully reached its goal of 50,000 signatures.
Hosted on the Change.org website, the online campaign known as Operation Decode is currently sitting at 50,869 signatures, in support of an English release of the Digimon games. The campaign began in May, as an attempt to show Bandai Namco there’s demand in North America and Europe for the PS Vita Digimon game, along with Digimon World Re: Digitize Decode for the Nintendo 3DS. Then in June, Bandai Namco’s European community manager Isshak Gravi tweeted if the Operation Decode petition reached 50,000 signatures, it would start a conversation at the company about releasing the Digimon games worldwide. The petition seemed to have some impact at Bandai Namco, as Digimon All-Star Rumble was announced for a Western release on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. The press release for the PS3 game even states the amazing fan support demonstrated in getting future Digimon games released outside of Japan.
Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth is set for a 2015 release in Japan. Here’s the latest trailer for the game.
