According to a recent Tweet, Anonymous may have surprised us all. Credited for the infamous PSN hack of 2011, the hacker group is notorious for causing a three week outage. Playstation gamers were unable to play their PS3 games online, sync their trophy information, browse the Playstation Store, use services like Hulu and Netflix, or do anything at all on their black box that required any kind of network connection.
The hack of 2011 is well in the past now, but the recent hack this past weekend brought it back into the spotlight. There are conflicting sources assigning the blame for the latest charade, some of which credit Anonymous again. However, it seems most likely that a group known as Lizard Squad is responsible, and Anonymous may have re-routed the attack. If true, then perhaps it is time to bury the hatchet, and forget about the past. At the very least, it is possible that we don’t have to worry about Anonymous anymore.
