During the EVO 2015 tournament this past weekend, Capcom detailed how downloadable content will work in Street Fighter V. In past installments of the popular fighting franchise, Capcom would release multiple updates to the base game. These updates were different versions of the game which “forced” players to buy a completely different disc if they wanted to stay in competition with other Street Fighter players. Street Fighter 4 had a base version, Super Version, Arcade Version and Ultra Version. With Street Fighter V, updates to the game and downloadable characters will be free of charge. While updates will be free, characters can be obtained for free by simply playing the game.
When Street Fighter V launches, the game will ship with 16 characters (12 returning characters and 4 new fighters being introduced) and eventually more via DLC. Players who don’t want to play to unlock DLC characters for free can pay using “Zenny” which is essentially real world money. This lets players stay current in their Street Fighter V experience.
Street Fighter V will launch sometime next Spring. What characters would you like to see included in the roster? Discuss in the comments section.
