Shuhei Yoshida has confirmed, via Twitter, that Sony is working on an official app for Remote Play functions for PC/Mac.
Possibly pressured by earlier word of a unofficial application, video below, being launched by someone under the name Twisted, Yoshida tweeted the confirmation late last night.
The timing suggests that Sony had already been working on this feature but were forced to announce it early because of Twisted’s app.
Some people asked if we plan to provide Remote Play function to PC, and yes, we are indeed working on an official application for PC/Mac. 😀

Whether this means Sony will finally release official drivers for the DualShock 4 is up in the air but the chance seems fairly likely.
Supporting Mac OS X is already something that the Xbox One cannot do and will help users who do not have access to the PlayStation Vita use the Remote Play feature to their advantage.
It seems like Sony is listening to everything that their fans are asking for, with PS2 emulation recently confirmed, but it begs the question why Sony didn’t wait for PlayStation Experience for these announcements.
