Many UK PlayStation Network users are not happy right now. Why? Well, there seems to be a big problem between Sony and PayPal.
The situation is that thousands of chargebacks from PayPal have been issued towards Sony Entertainment Network transactions, which includes purchases made via PSN. As a result, the PSN accounts affected have been banned until the chargebacks are resolved. Those whose accounts have been hit with the ban have been notified via an email from Sony.
One user who was slapped with a chargeback called up PayPal to get some info on the matter. According to him, PayPal insists that the problem falls on Sony’s side of the court. Neither company has released an official statement as of this time.
Regardless of which company is truly at fault, the most important thing is that this situation needs to be cleared up as quickly as possible. The silver lining here, if you want to call it that, is that this issue only seems to be affecting UK PSN accounts. So, at the very least, this is a limited problem.
