The PlayStation Vita has been getting a ton of third-party support lately, which is impressive considering the handheld released over five years ago. The Vita is getting a slew of upcoming handheld exclusive titles (games released alongside the PS4 versions). Here is a list of the most notable upcoming PS Vita handheld exclusives launching in the coming years.
13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim
13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim is an upcoming 2D sci-fi mecha game developed by Vanillaware and published by Atlus. The game is set for release on the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita. While the game was confirmed to launch in the US, Atlus hasn’t announced an official release date.13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim follows the themes of surging despair and the demise of everyday life following a destructive catastrophe.
Directed by George Kamitani, 13 Sentinels is a pretty big departure from what VanillaWare is known for (traditional fantasy styled games) — Taking place in a modern setting featuring giant mechs. According to Atlus, while the world “may be bleak,”…
“VanillaWare’s signature artistic shine and gorgeous aesthetics will bring the characters and story of 13 Sentinels to life.”
Why is this a notable PS Vita handheld exclusive? Since the PlayStation Vita launched, VanillaWare has supported the console from the get go. They have released exquisite titles like Muramasa: Rebirth, Dragon’s Crown, and most recently the fantastic Odin Sphere: Leifthrasir. Over the years VanillaWare has earned itself a small, but vocal PS Vita gamer following. I’m almost certain this game is sure to be a hit on PS4/PS Vita.
