There are two recent PS Vita releases that caught us by surprise. Both titles, coincidentally, are only on Vita and PC. While the two game’s artwork might look similar, they are wildly different from one another. Let’s take a look.
VA-11 HALL-A ($15) is a fantastic narrative game that recently hit the PlayStation Vita. The year is 2070-something, you play as a bartender named Jill who meets various types of people during her job at a dystopian downtown bar. When talking with these people you’re told entertaining stories and get to know the interesting views of each character. Whether it’s their personal beliefs, their attitudes, or what grind their gears, the writing is done extremely well that you’re constantly engaged in the conversation.
VA-11 HALL-A may be a part of a genre that’s a bit oversaturated on the PS Vita, but in my opinion, it’s a must play on the platform. Let’s hope we continue to see support for the PlayStation Vita from great developers in the coming years. You can check out our full review here. As well as our video review below!
Xenon Valkyrie+ ($10) is a rogue-lite platformer that features RPG elements. You must fight to the deepest part of a moon and halt the plans of a wicked witch. In short, the game borrows a handful of beloved elements from the popular rogue-like title, Spelunky. However, Xenon Valkyrie+ brings enough nuance along with rock-solid gameplay mechanics to help it stand tall in the RPG/rogue-like genre.
Xenon Valkyrie+ is a must own for PS Vita owners who love rogue-like games. It’s challenging, rewarding, and sparkles with charm. While the game might hurt itself in the long-run for being as difficult as it is, for anyone who’s up for the challenge, you’re bound to have a fun time. You can check out our full review here.
