The publisher/developer known as EA SPORTS is infamous for holding most of the credentials necessary to produce licensed professional sport games. From Madden Football to the NHL franchise, and right down to Tiger Woods PGA Golf–it seemed like baseball was the only sport untouched in the development realm.

Now, HB Studios, a former EA SPORTS game developer, plans on creating its own rendition of the golf experience.

We are incredibly excited to give golf fans the game they’ve always wanted,” said Anthony Kyne, Producer at HB Studios. “No other golf game provides players with this level of customization and sophistication in course design on PC and next generation consoles. We’ve worked extremely hard to get The Golf Club ready for launch, so it’s really rewarding to officially announce the launch date and share that with our fans.

There are a slew of  customizations that players can drag-and-drop. The course editor, known as the Greg Norman Course Designer (after Australian golfer Greg “The Shark” Norman), offers the tools necessary for players to create a quick course to play or a large scale challenge. From hazards to holes, there is a lot of creativity to be handed over to the user, not to mention all of which can be shared between players.

The upcoming title will feature game modes, such as:

  • Tours & Tournaments
  • Stroke Play
  • Match Play
  • 4-ball.

The Golf Club is slated for an Xbox One release via Xbox LIVE on August 19, 2014, PC via Steam, and a PlayStation 4 release “…later this month pending certification approval.” It will release at a $34.99 price point.
