Gran Turismo Sport has raced exclusively onto PS4. Its release marks the first entry in the illustrious racing franchise to come to the PS4, but there’s also another first: it’s the first Gran Turismo game to make use of virtual reality technology.
The PlayStation VR accessory for PS4 has garnered quite a few different experiences since it launched last year, and racing has been one of them. Another PS4 exclusive racer, Driveclub also made use of the VR headset, although the response from players was less than favorable due to the noticeable reduction in visual fidelity. With that being the case, there was some understandable skepticism when it was revealed that GT Sport would also have a PSVR mode. Sony seems to have some confidence in it as an official bundle has been released which includes a copy of the game (and PlayStationVR Worlds) along with a PSVR headset and PS4 Camera. There’s also a more expensive bundle that includes two PS Move Controllers.
This bundle is currently only available in European markets. The standard bundle goes for €399.99 while the bundle including the dual PS Move Controllers is valued at €449.99.
So, how does the VR mode in Gran Turismo Sport look? Check out this gameplay video from Team VVV:
Having been introduced to video games at the age of 3 via a Nintendo 64, A.K has grown up in the culture. A fan of simulators and racers, with a soft spot for Nintendo! But, he has a great respect for the entire video game world and enjoys watching it all expand as a whole.
