There have been ups and downs at the Call of Duty World League here in Dallas, Texas. The first day of competition was halted by a potential bomb threat/swatting attempt, delaying progress for competitors. The building was swept and cleared after about five hours thanks to authorities and convention staff. Day three saw the same delay and evacuation, but, the tournament chugged on.
Early in the competition, it looked as though we would see teams eUnited and Optic Gaming share the final stage. But, as the days went on, teams like FaZe Clan, Echo Fox and Splyce began to disrupt the brackets. Even Echo Fox fought in from the open bracket, much like FaZe Clan.
During the semi-finals, fan favorite and returning champs, Optic Gaming, were handed the “L” from team Splyce. Optic was bucked on Ardennes Forest, sealing the Search and Destroy match.
To wind down championship play tonight, it was Team Kaliber and Splyce facing off into the wee Monday hours. The teams seemed evenly matched, with two map wins each, going into five for the final results. After some some tense and grueling moments, and Tommey continuing to showcase his two and three-piece grabs for Splyce, it was Team Kaliber that was crowned the champions of the Call of Duty World League-Dallas.
